I agree Alexandra, the volume of ‘noise’ on the internet creates an opportunity for teacher librarians to add value by creating pathfinders to guide students to the right sources of information. In turn, this would also help students to evaluate their search findings, as they have been exposed to credible sources of information online.

I absolutely agree that curation is a vital part of the TL’s role. In completing assessment two, what was very clear was the sheer volume of ‘noise’ on the internet that while it may be related to a subject being studied, is ultimately not helpful as a learning resource. So much of the publicly available web is designed for purposes other than education, and it takes time, patience and expertise to filter out all the irrelevant junk and find digital resources that are actually helpful to students and teachers.
