Module 6: 24/7 library access

While we enjoy the benefits of living in a connected world, it does come with downfalls. Providing online access to the library catalogue, digital resources, blog/webpage can provide students with many benefits. Particularly for researching assignments or using an online book club. In regards to direct access to the teacher librarian after hours, queries and requests can wait until the next school morning. If while checking email, you happened to come across a request and had the time to action it, then this would be a bonus. I do not think that students would expect an immediate response after hours. It is also a good opportunity to reinforce that we all need some boundaries with our online use. We are after all humans, who need rest and time with our loved ones – just as our students do.
