My old blog

Wow..such a change in a year!

My old blog

When I first started the Masters of Education (Teacher Librarianship), I had no idea how to create a blog or insert widgets! I managed to do it and I felt so proud. At first I thought that the idea of a blog for the course was annoying and tedious. I couldn’t see how it would assist me in the long run. I had assessments to do, reading to catch up on and I didn’t have time to write blog posts!

Well this is my second year in to the Masters. I launched myself in Linkedin last August and remarkably within two days, someone recommended a TL position to me. I applied and to my own surprise I got the job. It was initially a four week position and I am still there. Completing ETL 501ย The Dynamic Information Environment was a turning point for me. I loved learning the tech tools and the capability to add value across a school. Though it was very hard, I gained confidence in creating webpages and trying new apps and tools. Therefore, after reading a discussion in a TL forum on Facebook, I ducked in to look at my blog. I am currently doing ETL 505 and the blog does not form part of the assessment. I took a break last session as I had just completed two subjects while managing a full-time job and coming out of a very difficult year with lockdowns. Seeing my blog really surprised me. The chunks of text without any images to break it up! The unimaginative design and organisation of posts!

I have recently realised that it is impossible to remember everything. I’ve struggled to find a way to remember apps that I wanted to try, a book I loved for a topic, my thoughts on a certain subject…so I decided to start my own TL blog: https://teacherlibrarianjanet.com

It is a work in progress, just like me! I have a place to store my info and thoughts, as well as assist any other teacher librarians out there who love to share ideas. I’m still amazed at how much I have learned in one year. We are currently experiencing lockdown again in Sydney and I created a Google site library website. This provides flexibility to provide different offerings across the school, particularly as we are a K-12 school. It is an excellent way to connect with students and teachers, to showcase our creations and be fully embedded within the school.

Thanks CSU!! ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ‘
