In module 2, we are asked to reflect upon how the Charles Sturt University (CSU) library and how it changes information sources to information resources.
On the CSU library homepage, information can be accessed as raw sources or as organised information resources. Through completing simple searches, the user will find information sources; whilst choosing to search ‘subject code’ (for example ETL504) will yield a collection of organised information resources specifically suited that subject/unit.
Utilising the Journal Database, Google Scholar and CSU Research Output, will also present the user with organised information resources, where data sources have been collaborated and complied to meet the specific needs of users.
Entering into the ‘Research’ tab at the top of the homepage, the user will discover that CSU library provides a ‘Video and News’ database. This database if collated in a fashion for easy access and specificity, as it is subcategorised into three collections – videos, multimedia and news.
Under the ‘Services’ tab on the top of the homepage, the user will also find a database dedicated to citations. This organised information resource enables the users to cite references correctly, by searching, finding, checking and tracking citation data.
Information services, such as the CSU Library, enables information to be managed and maintained. This management ensures that the database covers all formats and delivery modes, and that the resource is accurate and current. These information services carries into schools and all educational libraries.
