Prior to organising my Professional Placement, I constructed a list of goals that I’d like to meet or explore whilst undergoing my professional learning experience. The goals are as follows:

Personal Goals:

• Developing and customising library information services that broaden children’s vocabulary and language development.
• The acquisition and cataloguing processes of quality children’s literature and resources.
• Understanding how information technologies and multimedia resources are utilised within libraries targeting young patrons.

AILA aligned Goals:

• Identifying and investigating needs and information behaviours of individuals, community groups, organisations, and businesses through creation, collaboration, and partnerships.
• Providing and promoting free and equitable access to information and client services.
• Delivering information literacy education.
• Designing and delivering information services and products.

The above considered, I hope to complete my placement at a public Children’s Library, as I believe this information agency will enable me to thoroughly explore these goals and associated skills, whilst developing my professional understanding of early learning as a Kindergarten teacher.
