Different library arrangements for resources.

Libraries and TL’s can independently and departmentally decide what arrangement best suits their resources and setting. Resources can be sorted by:

  • Dewey Decimal Classification
  • Alphabetical order
  • Occasion
  • Type of material
  • Level of difficulty
  • Genre, and even
  • Colour

Tools to assist TL’s in the organisation of resources can include:

  • Library catalogues
  • Periodical databases
  • Citation databases
  • Image and other special kinds of database
  • Bibliographies and subject guides
  • Online subject gateways and directories, and
  • Search engines

All of which include various amounts of metadata.
