Sustainability has been at the forefront of our design, and we have aimed to create a design solution that will reduce the long-term operating costs of running multiple bore wells.

Through making the design portable, as per the requirement of EWB Project Opportunity 5.2, we will successfully eliminate the need for operating a large number of pumps across the same number of bore wells. Our design has one pump that can service a broad number of wells, thus allowing for the pumps within them to be removed. Ultimately, this reduces operating costs, as only one pump may be serviced, instead of multiple. In addition, those pumps that have been removed may be stripped for parts, or sold, which further saves money on large-scale pump operations.

Furthermore, the reduction in the number of pumps due to the existence of a portable system will also reduce waste created by replacing parts. With our design, only one pump will produce waste through maintenance, instead of multiple pumps contributing to the accumulation of waste. The reduction in waste will also contribute to the cultural aspect of the design solution, as this can help preserve the Land of the Cape York region.
