The Teacher Librarian (TL) has many responsibilities in relation to the budget, not only are they responsible for the budget within the Library context, they can influence the changes in budgeting and the budgets of other areas through collaboration and leadership within the school.
Collaborator – TL should be involved when new programs are being written for new curriculums or rewritten to be inclusive of new teaching methods and modes of student learning. The TL needs to be aware of the requirements the teachers will need in existing and new resources.
Steward – A TL should lead teachers in the selection process of new and existing resources to benefit students learning. The TL is responsible for guiding teachers to resources that not only suit the curriculum but are also within the scope of the library budget and management criteria.
Thinker – A TL needs to ensure a balance in the budget through leading and collaborating with teachers, principals and staff when resourcing and developing programs of learning within and outside the Library learning space.
