I have over 10 years of experience working in libraries and my current role as Digital Literacy Officer requires me to continue learning about new technologies and opportunities in STEAM programming. Professional Networking can, not only, help me learn about programs other libraries provide but also create connections that open up new opportunities, both for myself and within the community. I have held different roles throughout my career and hope to continue to take on new opportunities and new challenges in the future. By continuing my professional development I can develop my knowledge and skills so that I have the tools necessary to take on whatever future possibility may present itself.
Learning about new programs and developments also helps keep my enthusiasm and passion for my role alive. The stories and the information garnered at networking and professional development events often inspire me and remind me of the important role libraries can play within the community. Without the development and expansion of the idea of what a libraries role can be my position would not exist.
