Week 3

In week 3, my research on the blockchain technology was still going on. The concept of blockchain gained mainstream attention in 2017. In simple terms, blockchain is a technology that enables data to be stored and transferred on a peer-to-peer basis. It can also be compared to a bank ledger holding transactions. It stores information about the date, time, and amount of money, etc. It’s used in a ‘decentralised’ manner and eliminates the need for ‘trusted third parties’. The blockchain network doesn’t have any central authority. So, we can pretty much say that blockchain technology created the cornerstone of a new kind of internet.

The modern digital economy is based on the reliance on a certain trusted authority. Simply put, the online transactions we make rely on trusting someone to tell us the truth. For example, when we send an email to somebody we need the provider to tell us that the email is delivered. So, basically the point is that we live our life rather uncertainly in the digital world by relying on a third entity for the security of our digital assets. The bad news is that these so-called third-party sources can be infiltrated.

Week 2 Research progress

In the week 2, after completing my class, I started doing research on the blockchain technology. my research includes what exactly is the technology and why it is so much important.

A blockchain is the technology that allows all members to keep a ledger containing all transaction data and to update their ledgers to maintain integrity when there is a new transaction. Since the advancement of the Internet and encryption technology has made it possible for all members to verify the reliability of a transaction, the single point of failure arising from the dependency on an authorized third party has been solved. The blockchain is a structured list that saves data in a form similar to a distributed database and is designed to make arbitrarily manipulating it difficult since the network participants save and verify the blockchain. Each block is a structure consisting of a header and a body. The header includes
the hash values of the previous and current blocks and nonce. The block data are searched in the database using the index method. Although the block does not contain the hash value of the next block, it is added as a practice.

Shruti Babbar

My name is Shruti Babbar and my student ID is 11707597. I am from Chandigarh which is located in the north part of India. After completing my schooling I decided to go for Bachelor’s of computer science from Rajpura. After completing my bachelor’s, I came to Australia to pursue Master’s of information technology. I am in the lest semester of my master’s degree.

My specialization is Cloud computing and on the basis of my specialization and my interest, I am choosing “Cloud Security Blockchain” as my project. This topic is very intresting. Blockchain has highlighted the protection that fits the age of information technology as the financial technology of the next decade.. It provides protection, in particular, by authenticating people who share virtual cash, encoding and solve associated information. The security focused business blockchain technology is anticipated to increase to approximately USD 20 billion by 2020, according to the world’s financing industry.
