Welcome to the library guide for children’s books and resources. This guide was made by the Urunga Public Library and is a resource for early childhood educators and parents that will provide you with videos, websites, databases, articles, and of course, a book list. These resources are tailored to anyone looking to update their existing collection, and to broaden horizons. Many of the resources provided on this site are diverse and will spark an interest and love of reading in any child.

In the Books page you will find a range of picture books suitable for ages 3 and up. Each of the books have a different focus but are all diverse in some way, whether it be culturally or socially diverse. These are designed to teach your children about compassion, kindness and love so give them a chance!

The Audiovisual Material page explores book review and recommendation videos to help you gain a better understanding of what you would like to read to your child.

In Databases and Articles there are a range of databases for you to explore with tips for searching key words and using advanced search to help you find specific materials. Some interesting articles have been provided for you to get you started on your search. Many of the articles provided illustrate the impact that reading picture books has on childhood development, and the importance of diversity in children’s literature.
