Greetings and welcome to your digital learning environment. The goal here is to provide resources that will enhance the digital learning experience within the school curriculum. By utilising digital technology, we can extend the reach of education to communities that would otherwise be excluded. We can also provide opportunities for rewarding, personalised, and self-directed learning. Here is where students will begin their journey toward positive digital citizenship. As you navigate through the website, you will find a variety of fun, interactive resources for students to use during digital technology time within the classroom or library, while extending the knowledge on the important of digital citizeship within the digital world. By beginning here, students will only enhance the set of skills that they eventually learn within the classroom setting and encourage them to positively promote digital citizenship within their school and home environment now and into the future. As a teacher, you will find a variety of ongoing learning activities which can be incorporated into your classroom. In addition, parents will find resources to enhance their own digital skills, along with a wide variety of literature that supports the implementation of learning about digital citizenship in schools. Being digitally literate means that you have “the ability to identify and use technology confidently, creatively and critically to meet the demands and challenges of life, learning and work in a digital society” (Coldwell-Neilson, 2018). In addition to being an essential life skill, it is also a prerequisite for many professions. However, it is imperative for students to learn how to use digital technology in an effective and positive way. Learning how to be an effective and positive digital citizen will only help motivate students to be mindful of what they are posting online and in turn they will continue to leave a positive digital footprint (MyFuture, 2021). This makes them ACTIVE DIGITAL CITIZENS. This website is designed to ensure that teachers are developing students that have the capability to be efficient, ethical and moral when using digital technologies for personal, social, cultural and global purposes.
