Students being able to frequently access divers, quality fiction collections with an exaemplary teacher librarian has a positive impact on students literacy skills, knoweldge and understanding and motivation to learn. Johnson (2018) identifies 10 areas in which school libraries contribute to student learning positively, below are three of these areas.

The individual learner – the library provides students access to a wide range of materials including childrens literature. Childrens literature is evokative, imaginavtive, enlightening and entertaining for those who particpate in reading (McGregor, n.d.)

24/7 learning – the provision of access to online materials through the libraries curation process, provides students with the opportunity to access learning oppotunities outside formal schooling times. The use of muliple platforms and connections allows for collections of materials that are complex and interactive methods of accessing interaction (Lamb & Johnson, 2010, p. 81).

Engouraging a love of reading and learning – The use of stories increases comprehension and a love of reading through evoking prior knowledge, improving logical thinking skills (Haven, 2007, p. 92). Students are engaged in reading and by forming a connection with the literature, motivation and enthusiasm for learning is grown.

I have been trying to develop my ability to locate engaging multimodal literature.
