Copyright provides protection for all works and materials created by the owner under law, restricting the way material can be used by the owner and others (Australian Copyright Council, 2017).  It is important when reading and analysing the works of others that they are given due credit for the use of their work in your own writings. This is conducted through the use of in-text referencing and reference lists. The works of others is not your own and as such needs to be recognised in your literary works and any other mediums in which you extract information, images or any other copyrighted materials. The use of Creative Commons licenses result in easier sharing and use of creative works and material by all who access the works or materials and can be specifically modified to the wishes of the owner (Creative Commons). Using creative commons does not mean no references are required it is an acknowledgement that copying of material is permitted.
