Assessment 1: Digital Artefact

Part 1 – Podcast

Part 2 – Written Reflection

Our task in Assessment 1 was to create a digital artefact discussing and teaching digital literacy appropriate for our chosen profession. I completed a Podcast, discussing digital literacy that related to my chosen profession, intelligence officer and analysis. I created this podcast by recording my voice using Voice Memo’s app on my iPhone. I then uploaded the voice recording onto my computer and onto an audio editing program called WavePad Audio Editor. I also downloaded music from Free Music Archive and edited the music and audio recording to create my podcast. Once I completed the editing, I uploaded the podcast audio track onto SoundCloud. I also added an image from Pixabay as both the SoundCloud image and blog post image.

In commencing this assignment, I was confident that I had a good idea of what programs and tools were needed to create my digital artefact. I was glad however for the module activities 4.1, 4.2, and 4.3 as I feel it gave me a good idea for which programs to use and which ones work best for me.

I encountered difficulties with uploading the completed audio podcast onto SoundCloud. The first edit I created, I used Audacity to edit the audio, however, the version of Audacity I downloaded could not create a version of the audio that was compatible with SoundCloud, so I used WavePad Audio Editor instead which I found to be easier to use, and had more editing options.
