This activity is a workshop on how to design, share the concept of design to make use of the library’s space to provide a future learning environment to our library users. The presenters are Glenn Shive of HKAC, King Chow from HKUST, Luisa Mok of HKUST, Esther Woo, Michael Cheng and Nicol Pan from HKU, Martin Leicht from HKIS. The workshop consisted of five talks about design topics and followed by reflections sessions.

Reflection:

The objectives of the activity were to share the successful experience of the presenters in their organizations and teach how to design the use of library space for learning. I attended this workshop’s because I want to know more about the design concepts and other libraries’ experience to build up better indoor areas for library users. Librarians has a duty to provide spaces for learning and preserve the library resources, especially in Hong Kong, the land resource is limited, Libraries are always facing this problem. Therefore, it is very important to solve this issue. We should consider the use of libraries space for future development, and gather information with users. We should be open-minded towards new arrangement and thoughts. I am going to try to adopt these strategies to design a better learning area for my patrons.
