Reflection:
I attended this study visit because I want to explore more about Primary School Librarianship. Ms Chan is an experienced information professional. She tried to apply education theories jointed with librarianship skills at her working position, so I was appreciated and inspired by her sharing and I hope that can implement these strategies in my workplace. She gave me some ideas to my information studies, such as collection management, information literacy and promote reading culture in school. In this study visit, I was able to observe the learning space designed by Ms Chan. She demonstrated the effective use of limited space to give patrons a better area for learning. She even set up the maker space in the library, which is a breakthrough for traditional primary school library. It can attract users to come to the library and allow develop interest in “Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM)”. I tried to implement her idea and combine my thoughts to hold a “STEM” book display in my school after study visit to arouse their interest in reading and learning through cross-curriculum cooperation.
