Tying it all together

By now, you should have:

  1. a set of notes from all the completed reading and activities in the ‘First Steps’ section.
  2. a more detailed set of notes, based on at least three sources, on one particular topic from the ‘Digging Deeper’ section
  3. your collaborative work on two Jamboards, your Group Jamboard, and the Whole-class Jamboard.

Activity:

As your final activity for this research guide, you will need to return to the question you were asked at the start:

Many would argue that the 1960’s were a time of great change and upheaval, do you agree?

Using the resources you’ve created (as listed above),  you should now be able to give a detailed answer to this question.

Activity:

Using the PEEL (Point, Example, Explanation, Link) paragraph structure that you have used in both Year 9 and Year 10, write a mini-essay that responds to the question with a clear opinion.

Your mini-essay must include:

  • a short introduction in which you state your opinion (2-3 sentences)
  • two PEEL paragraphs to support that opinion
  • a short conclusion (2-3 sentences)

These mini-essays will help to support the more extensive essays you will be writing once you have analysed the novel in depth with your English teacher.

Good luck!
