Let’s start by looking at a definition of citizenship.
(Merriam-Webster, n.d)
- Think, Write, Pair, Share : What are some of the communities that you belong to?
Online communities now play a huge part in our lives. When we are a part of an online community we become digital citizens.

Digital Citizenship
The online domain is a place of wonder and excitement but there are issues and challenges that come with viewing and participating in this world. When we navigate and participate in the online world, we have to ensure that we are informed, legal, ethical, safe, responsible and respectful. It is important that you have an understanding of your rights and responsibilities when you are online and that you can encourage and model respectful and responsible online behaviours (Greenhow, 2010, p.2). One of the aspects of digital citizenship is how to have a positive digital footprint.
