As mentioned in the above article, it is important that you have an understanding of the apps / games/ website / social media platforms that you use.  The https://www.esafety.gov.au/key-issues/esafety-guide has information about popular apps, games, websites and social media platforms. The site gives you information about :

  • how you can report abuse and violence
  • how to protect your personal information and security
  • Key safety links

11) Writing activity : Choose one or two of your favourite social media platforms / games / apps that you use.

Do you know what your privacy settings currently are?

What does this mean in terms of who can see your posts?

Are you able to restrict who can view them?

What personal information have you shared? 

Identify any areas where you could protect your digital footprint. Discuss these with your parents / caregivers and make any adjustments necessary under their guidance.

Harnessing the power of the internet for good!

Another way to create a positive digital footprint is to create content that is positive and shows the good things that you contribute online and in the real world. The following vlog shows Tash and Isaac interviewing three young people who are harnessing the online world to create positive social change and are using their online presence to follow their passions and create future opportunities by building a digital portfolio of their work and ideas.
