Our Journey

When approaching a task like the EWB Challenge it is important to have an effective design process, that ensures that solving the users needs are the highest priority. Through this subject we used the Human Centred Design (HCD) design process. This process is made up of six distinct phases:

  1. Discover – Learning about the users and discovering their needs
  2. Empathise – Trying to develop a more personal understanding of the locals
  3. Ideate – Develop ideas that could solve the identified needs
  4. Screening – Limit the ideas from the ideation phase
  5. Prototyping – Developing models of the design solution
  6. Communicate – Communicating the design to other parties (user, stakeholder etc.)

By using the HCD we have ensured that our design solution directly addresses a need in the local communities.
