Attribute:
Whoever uses another person’s material needs to give attribution, whether communicating the material in any form online or offline.
Copyright:
In most cases the creator of the work owns copyright; however, this can change. While an individual may own a copy of a novel, the author, or publisher, holds the rights to copy and distribute the novel. A person may pass on their rights to another person/organisation, such as when a journalist joins a media company and conditions of employment pass copyrights on to the employer (ACC, 2019a). Similarly, on social media platforms, simply joining provides permission for essentially all copyright of the user’s created/posted content to be passed onto the social media company (Bosher, 2020).
