Welcome !

Hi everyone
welcome to my ThinkSpace site!, I am Tuti (Ai Tuti Geary). I am studying Librarianship – Bachelor of Information Studies at Charles Sturt University and I am currently working full time at Parliamentary Library in Canberra in Collection Management section, as a Manager of Acquisitions and Serials team who are responsible for acquisitions and collection maintenance. I manage a team who acquire and manage library resources in print and digital format.
I have had several positions in the Library, both in a substantive role and on temporary assignment of duties in Acquisition, Cataloguing, Collection Maintenance, and Serials. I want to expand my career into a more senior management role in the Library industry and I believe in lifelong learning as I continue to study at university while I am working full time to further my career. We never stop learning!.
CPD (Continuing Professional Development) and Professional Networking Philosophy Statement
It is important for me as a library and information professional to continually update my skillsets, keeping up to date with the current library and information industry trends and development. I also believe that CPD (Continuing Professional Development) activities and professional networking will assist me to further my career as it will nurture my current skillsets, provide opportunities to develop and gain new relevant skillsets. Professional networking will also benefit me in terms of seek/share guidance/tips and let myself to be known among other information professionals that will eventually open new career opportunities for me. Even though, I have been working in Parliamentary Library for over eleven years, I feel that I need to update my skillset and knowledge continuously by completing my Diploma of Library and Information Services at Canberra Institute of Technology, then continuing my study Bachelor of Information Studies (Librarianship specialisation) at Charles Sturt University. Apart from my formal studies, I also update my skillset/knowledge and connect with other information professional by enrolling/registering to do short courses, workshops, attending conferences, webinars, forums, and join a working group. All relevant CPD activities have assisted me throughout my career journey start from gaining the entry level to the middle management role and I am hoping I will be able to progress my career to more a senior management role in the library and information industry.
