How did people protect themselves? 

Approximately one third of the population of Europe died of the Black Plague. Treatments for the disease were varied and generally ineffective.
  1. Investigate and discuss with a partner, “Plague response sources“.  Your table will be allocated one of these resources to prepare an analysis for the class.
  2. Read this article on “10 Crazy cures for the plague“.  Which one do think would be the most effective?  What would you try?  (Class survey)
  3. Read the article “The Burning of Jews during the Black Death“.  Summarise your understanding of why the Jews were persecuted for the belief that they caused the black death.
  4. Given the access to knowledge and resources at the time of the plague, develop advice for the medieval population by suggesting three ways they could avoid infection or, cure themselves.  Give details reasons.
