As a teacher, I always stress to my students the importance of putting information into their own words to avoid plagiarism and copyright laws. Only upon reading Module 4 of ETL503 did I realise the extent of the laws that exist… and I’m sure even some of these go further and deeper than I’ve researched.

The Smartcopying website is a very useful website that will be a beneficial tool in my future career as a TL, and even currently as a teacher. I found it an easy to navigate website with detailed explanations of the rules and regulations for a variety of resource types.

The section within Module 4 that really interested me was the section about assisting students with disabilities. The school I currently work at has approximately 20% of the students as part of Inclusion Support. I always knew that there were ways we could help these students access resources, but I am very interested to continue reading and learning about the laws that are in place to help these students. If I become a teacher librarian in a school similar to the one I currently teach in, I want to be able to help all of these students and the information in this module is my tool to get started learning!
