When thinking about my current knowledge, I refer back to a previous post I wrote late last year during a course on resourcing the curriculum – it is imperative that the school library “suits the diverse interests and abilities of the students” (Fleishhacker, 2017; Maloy, 2022, November 29).  With students so frequently online now is digital literature in fact the way of the future?  Yes, it has been around for years, but was the digital literature of the past really engaging for the students, or was it just text on a screen?  With all the high-definition graphics and video technologies of the present, I believe that digital literature creators are engaging our students more than ever.

My concern now lies with the adults – how can we ensure that we, as teachers and teacher librarians, keep up with the ever-growing myriad of digital literature tools and resources that are available to us?  Personally, I am technologically competent, but just the very initial stages of the ETL533 subject have proven that my knowledge of digital literature is nominal.  E-books, audiobooks, maybe a webquest here and there… I’m excited to learn about the real digital literature experiences that are out there in the digi-verse.

Currently working in a school in a low socio-economic area that is adequately equipped with technology, I am hoping to discover more about digital literature to pique the interest of those students who have lost the motivation to continue their learning journey (Tait et. al, 2019).  Similarly, the students in our support classes may also benefit from a shift in teaching practice to include digital literature.
