Welcome to my reflective learning journal, which is a requirement as part of my Master of Education (Teacher Librarianship) degree but also a way for me to reflect upon my learning, career and general insights of my role as I progress through the academic year and the course.

A bit about me: I’m Shiv, I’m originally from the UK and initially trained as a teacher in Newastle upon Tyne before getting my first job in Tower Hamlets, London. I worked there for two years before moving abroad, firstly to the Middle East, then China and now Singapore.

I have taught across all KS1 and KS2 and have held previous roles as Year Group Lead, IPC Lead and English Lead. I am now Library Lead for Years 3-6 and oversee the EYFS/KS1 Library as well.

I live in Singapore with my husband Ollie, our daughter Genevieve, who is almost two, and our two cats, McGonagall and Marvel… I’m sure you can guess the references!
