This post is just to announce that all my focus is now on this project, I’ll post another advance at the end of this week. I realised that the idea of the research is to analyse driver behaviour, but there are several pieces of literature that analyse this with different kinds of resources, and although my first approach to this project was an implementation, I won’t afford to do this because of the limit of time. I will settle the path of this research this week.
Furthermore, I have been reading some papers focusing on the literature review structure to construct the ideal document to present all the findings. I discovered that the literature review process technically and critically reviewed the literature to extract technical and scientific metadata. Therefore, I will focus to extract this information to critically analyse and compare it against other papers to find the disadvantages and advantages to determine a meaningful use of driving behaviour profiles for road safety.
Additionally, I looked into different methodologies, and I discovered that some of them are better suited for particular research projects than others. For instance, questionnaires and surveys are better suited for quantitative research, whereas focus groups and interviews are more frequently used for qualitative research.
I’m doing this to begin investigating and comprehending the information gathered for Driver Behaviour Analysis (DBA). For example, the actual paper that I am reading indicates that the Driver Behaviour Questionnaire (DBQ) is a metric widely used and is correlated with violations and errors in crash involvement. This clearly shows that quantitative data is processed to identify trends and averages, formulate hypotheses, examine causality, and generalise results to larger samples or populations.
As mentioned before, My ideal would be to use this research on new students to prevent auto accidents. So, I plan this week to find the better approach to gather data can be data collected through sensors, questionnaires, interviews etc… This topic has many applications and depending on it, the data is collected with different approach. So, I will determine the application to define what data is required to gather and what is the influence on the results to analyse the literature related to this topic.
