My name is Kathleen, but my friends call me Kath, so as you are reading this Blog, I believe you can call me Kath.
My desire to work with books can probably be sourced back to bedtime stories with my own father. His passionate story-telling, including the use of puppets to read fuelled my love of literature. On reflection, upon entering this course in 2021, I certainly see why he was also a Teacher-Librarian.
I live with my husband and 3 gorgeous step-daughters (18, 17 and 13) in a bustling suburb of Sydney, NSW. When I am not juggling the family schedule, which includes battles with NDIS to assist us in the best care and education for one of our girls, as of 2022 I have the privilege of being the Teacher Librarian at my local school. The school has a well-established STEM program which offers fabulous opportunities for collaboration in inquiry-based learning.
I originally trained and worked as a Preschool Teacher in Preschools in Victoria, then trained for Primary education running a play-based Foundation classroom for quite a number of years. I love the enthusiasm and authenticity of learning which comes from “doing” and am excited to further develop my skills of facilitator of learning in TL qualifications.
I am taking this course to do what I ask of my students; stepping bravely into the unknown.
