Database Journeys: Hug your Librarian

There is a recent trend in recognising that information specialists will be crucial  in the future.  This is in part why I’m currently studying to become a teacher librarian.  This week I was asked to review a few different research databases: boolean searches, setting up accounts, creating folders and sifting through a plethora of information.

Honestly… it sucked!

It was so frustrating and tedious to deal with the idiosyncrasies of each database.  Of course, when I worked through the minutia and found what I was looking for it was rewarding.
The it hit me: this is what I’m going to be doing in the future.  Helping students curate an abundance of information and I think it will be quite rewarding.

Hug your local librarian; they’ve worked hard in order to better help you!
