The Challenges and Values afforded for Learners and Teachers using Online Educational Technologies
(Australian Association for Research in Education, 2020)
There are positives and negatives with everything that is critically analysed, and digital technology in the classroom is no different. As a teacher I know there are many challenges implementing digital technology, but I also understand that the value it adds to learners can be huge. For some teachers, implementing technology often comes with added pressure to become digital experts as curriculums move towards the need to develop the skills students will need into the future.
We cannot challenge technology to serve the needs of education until we know what we want from it. We have to articulate what it means to teach well, what the principles of designing good teaching are, and how these will enable learners to learn.

This video discusses why it’s important to prepare our young people for a swiftly changing world, and the different ways schools and kura in NZ are approaching digital technologies learning.
