Getting started

My first ever blog post.  Brilliant.  I am so excited to begin this new professional adventure.  I definitely feel out of my comfort zone.  I am reminded of Vygotsky’s Zone of Proximal Development (Audley, 2018, p. 1).  I am nervous enough to feel ‘in the moment’ and with enough stress to keep me motivated, engaged and absorbing information but not too riddled with anxiety that I have shut down!

It is a big thing to go back to study after about 13 years.  What provides me comfort is that I truly believe that this is the next step for me.  I have always loved libraries.  I love the quiet space. The possibilities.  The adventure of looking for something new and not being quite sure where it will lead.  The  expansiveness of  spaces (both physical and digital) with endless possibilities. So many seperate stories existing concurrently.  And I love that.  I love reading fiction and knowing that there are so many incredible books out there that I will never have time to read.  I love that I will experience so many stories outside my everyday experiences.  I love that it is a shared experience with others in a public space. Exploring books, navigating libraries, sitting within the gentle spaces is an exciting next step in my journey.
