Its Assessment Time… again!

Its assessment time… again! Here we go.

At this moment I feel like there is a lot to process. My brain is going at 100 miles an hour. Unfortunately, with the results of my last assessment not being as pleasing as I would have liked, it has left me doubting my ability for a while. However, this week after exploring inquiry based learning and how it looks within the 21st century classroom, I am beginning to become a little more confident again! I believed that this confidence boost was definitely enhanced by my recent visit with Mrs Lynette Barker, a fellow teacher librarian in my diocese and a mentor to many of us. Lynette is a Microsoft Innovative Educator with years of experience in the field. It was an honor to spend the day planning with her and my job share partner, TL and wonderful friend, Mrs H! Having the day with two inspiring TL’s who have completed their master degree and carry years of experience, I had a wonderful and inspiring day. As Lynette was already on campus, I couldn’t help but ask her a few questions regarding her updated view on the Library Learning Path, in which Lynette and two fellow collogues created in 2015 (Barker, 2015).

In 2019, Lynette reviewed her process model which then formed the (New) Library Learning Path (Barker, 2019). See below.

Lynette, Mrs H and I spent the day reviewing our current scope and sequence and planning for our future lessons. Lynette pealed back the planning cycle from the very beginning, allowing me to visually see and experience the process of using not only her inquiry model as a student learning guide but also how it enhances our ability to stay on track and successfully teach the requirements of the Information Fluency Framework. This framework was designed to give teacher librarians a guide through their teaching and is designed to articulate the work of the librarian for both the school and wider community (NSW Department of Education., n.a.).

After a successful day, although feeling extremely hmmm… word cloudy… see some of the floating phrases I have cooped up below… I am ready now more than ever to hit the books. Sometimes all it takes is a little inspiration from some of the best!
