Project Status Update #2

This week I continued the work I had started by drafting an outline of project deliverables. This task was particularly challenging after further time evaluating the purpose of the study. After referring to the weekly lecture content, I believe that changing the direction of the study to produce a larger literature review/bibliography that builds upon the efforts of assignment three would be the most suitable solution. This decision was made due to the feasibility of connecting with samples to source data for any quantitative and qualitative study. Additionally, the new deliverables would still be able to sufficiently align with the drafted research questions in Assignment one. The work breakdown structure, Gantt chart and Risk analysis are still underway, with some risks, including ethical concerns and impacts on the project timeline, being noted and will be further refined over the next week.

At this pace, I am expecting the complete draft of the assignment to be completed around the 19th, providing ample time for review and refinement.

Project Status Update #1

This week I began working on the second assignment item for the subject. In particular, additional efforts have been made to investigate available literature and other online articles discussing the application of machine learning and artificial intelligence technologies within the broader human resource management area. Furthermore, I have spent some time evaluating a suitable research methodology that can source adequate data for analysis and interpretation. At this point, I am unsure if taking a quantitative or qualitative approach is more suitable for the research as the immediate limitations of not possessing a machine learning application that can be applied to businesses impacts the project’s ability to retrieve quantitative results on its accuracy. As such, I believe that pursuing a more qualitative approach and interviewing HR professionals on their impressions of artificial intelligence could produce interesting insights which can be analysed for this project.

Next week, I plan to develop a draft outline of project deliverables, work breakdown structure, Gantt chart and Risk analysis.

Introductions

Hello,

My name is Michael. I am interested in the intersection between technology and human resource management (HRM).

I am completing the final courses of a Master of Business Administration (Computing) degree and work as a Data Analyst focusing on HRM data. I have worked across a variety of roles utilising both technology and HRM knowledge and skills, including HR Information System administration, business intelligence reporting, HR data migration and, more recently, business process analytics and reconfiguration. I am also particularly interested in data remediation and gaining as much value out of underleveraged data as possible.

My project aims to explore the application of machine learning techniques to support the workforce planning function of HRM. Furthermore, the project aims to explore the benefits of machine learning and artificial intelligence technologies on human resource management service delivery.
