TL as RFF teacher

Reading about the Practicality of Learning Commons Model (Burress etal 2018)

How can understaffed schools cope?

In a school where the library is an RFF teacher- how can we enact these models????

Burress et al 2018 state 68% of teacher librarians teach library related lessons in isolation and that 30% of TL’s reported co-teaching or co-planning frequently.

When schools cant/ wont make time to allow best practise models where should TL’s focus their time and energy?

As an RFF TL I have been collaborating with the leaders of each stage 2 to craete a supplementry program to the english program running in the classroom. I have enjoyed this as teachers have reported growth in aspects that we have all been working on- most specifically the textual concepts.

As RFF TL on stage 3, I have been asked to teach the History components for the year. I have struggled with this as I have tried the Guided Inquiry approach but students were off task more than half the time. I am so gutted that the Inquiry learning didn’t work.
