Reducing the information literacy gap!!!!!

This is a real issue in schools.

Reading the article, Reducing the Information Literacy Gap in High school students (McPherson and Dube, 2016) i had so many moments of recognition.

Students information literacy needs to be supported and explicitly taught. Students use technology daily but do not understand the implications of what they are doing.

Through reading this article I feel much better equiped to provide a research guide for my stage 3 students. i feel like this age is a crucial time to start introducing students to the skills they will need in the future.

Skills such as keyword searching, using synonyms and adequate citation on readings and pictures will be needed for students in the future.

I looked back on the modules and couldn’t find where I even got the article from!
