Assessing

The big idea of the ‘Assessing’ phase of the information process is: “What did I learn from this?”

The key steps and questions of this phase are:
– Did I meet the success criteria of the task?
– How well did I follow each step of the Information Process?
– How well did I present my information?
– How can I improve next time?

Look over the Assessment Rubric once again (you will be given a paper copy), and mark how well you think your group did. Then, ask for the teacher-marked rubric and compare. Read your results and feedback carefully, and reflect both independently and as a group on how to improve for next time. You will then hand both rubrics back.

If how you think you did was quite different to what the teacher thought, don’t worry, that’s okay! That just means that more accurate/objective self-reflection can be one of your goals for next time. It will also tell us that perhaps the rubric was confusing or unclear, or that we need to teach you in more detail how to critically self-reflect. It will be a great learning opportunity for all involved.

Remember: As long as you followed the steps and worked hard, you should be proud of your efforts, no matter the result! 🙂

Finally, please fill out the Google Form to help US (your teachers) to improve our teaching and learning programs.

Don’t worry, your responses will be anonymous (we won’t see who said what)! We encourage you to follow our school value of honest, as it will help us improve. However, please remember to also follow our school value of being respectful. Make sure your criticism is constructive, helpful and objective, rather than rude or mean.

Thank you everyone, and well done!

Sincerely,
Miss Gallagher
