Overview:

Jessica Tran wants nothing more than to be a superhero like her parents and older sister, but she doesn’t seem to have any powers of her own. Ordinary, powerless, and searching for something meaningful to do with her life, Jess takes on an internship in a tech lab alongside her secret long-time crush, Abby, and accidentally winds up working for the villains.

Why Should I Read Not Your Sidekick?

This book is fast paced and exciting, with diverse characters and some very adorable romance. This story is not about coming out but is more focused on characters whose sexuality is already established, and might help you to become more confident with your own sexual identity. This story deals with Jess’s expectations about what it means to be ordinary and what it means to be extra-ordinary as she learns that she has potential to be more than just sidekick material.
