Discussion Forum 3.3 – The Principal and the TL

Discussion Forum

I believe having a positive relationship with the school principal is paramount in our role as teacher librarian. The readings give the impression that it is the principal who can ‘make or break us’ and it is up to us to make ourselves indispensable; aligning ourselves to the school’s vision (which is ultimately that of the principal).

By positioning ourselves as “movers and shakers” (Lupton, 2016), we need to take charge in the area of curriculum development, lead the way the implementation of new technological trends and it helps our cause if we possess an array of desirable qualities, from being collaborative, collegial, curious, proactive (and having a great sense of humour was mentioned as well…) (Lupton, 2016).
