If change happens frequently, it can be a source of “innovation overload” (Clement, 2014), and “change fatigue” may occur (Dilkes, Cunningham & Gray, 2014). Adopting a transformational leadership style would be appropriate for help mitigate stress in the workplace, as it is heavily predicated on building authentic relationships, collaboration and trust. This would also be useful in a library setting when implementing change processes effecting classroom teachers or other members of the library team.

Problem solving is essential when it comes to working through issues within an organisation, whether it stems from change processes or other conflicts which may arise. Business Leaders (2017) identify 7 steps of effective problem solving, which includes:

  1. identify the issues
  2. understand everyone’s interests
  3. list the possible solutions (options)
  4. evaluate the option(s)
  5. select an option(s)
  6. document the agreement(s)
  7. agree on the contingencies, monitoring and evaluation
