I believe network limitations and device availability are the main issues when it comes to inclusion and utilisation of any Web 2.0/3.0 tool. I think this is a significant barrier for successful technological integration as these factors can cause severe frustration for teachers when they potentially have the desire to implement these tools, but the facilities don’t allow for smooth implementation.
However, once access is assumed and the opportunity is present, the teacher librarian is in a powerful position to be able to support teachers in successful implementation. I think to start with, most helpful would be the carefully curation of an appropriate selection list of these tools – particularly highlighting ones that are a multi-purpose fit for learning across the curriculum. Usage and example guides would also be of benefit, combined with short and sharp skills workshops that are hands-on and practical.
