For a previous discussion forum activity in ETL503, I considered Trove as a selection aid and admittedly, did not have as much success in finding appropriate resources for my keyword search of ‘minibeasts’. The reason why it did not leave a particularly good impression at the time, is that it presented many newspaper articles that were largely unavailable. This led to my own user frustration, where in real-world application, under these circumstances I would generally move on. I would argue that this would be similar user behaviour of students, who would give up when they do not achieve success in a search task. I definitely do recognise the use of Trove however, as a wide and varied tool to use for locating resources of a historical nature, where its federated search function leads to a multitude of interesting resource options.
