how do you wake up from naïvity?

The global community is currently confronted with realities that were thought long dead in civil memory. The fog of war embodied as aggressive disinformation campaigns have exposed humiliating and often devastating consequences for individuals and nations who have lacked the assertive information literacy necessary for the protection of secure information environments. Teacher Librarians are essential in this resistance and maintaining democratic spaces of discourse and learning through the practice of critical inquiry. Critically examining the affective motivations of information agents must be as integral to the protection of learners at later stages of life as our educational efforts to protect them as children from those who would do them harm. Naïvity can not last forever in a world where freedoms are under attack, but it can be protected and respected. The naïvity of which societies are currently criticised by authoritarians paradoxically reveals their own weakness, a frail inability to conceive a world where humanity is helping , healing and learning.
