Welcome to my online portfolio.
I am currently employed in two capacities as a librarian. The first is within a high school library. I particularly enjoy engaging with students via our various programs that connect children with book and reading. I also enjoy facilitating makerspace programs, which include: coding, robotics and 3D printing. Secondly, I have recently been employed within the public library sector on a casual basis and I’m various excited about the future learning opportunities and exciting career pathways that public libraries offer.
CPD/Professional Networking Philosophy Statement:
The information industry is continually changing and evolving as is the nature of information and the way information is accessed. Therefore, continuing professional development is imperative. As patrons needs change and shift so does the librarians responsibilities. As a librarian that works within both a public library and school library, I understand that I have two separate users that have different needs and I must service them accordingly. For example my knowledge in coding and robotics is used frequently within the school environment and I have not yet needed to utilise these skills in my role at the public library. I am also acutely aware that as advances in technology and robotics advance so will my need to up-skill. I am committed to continually provide patrons with the best service possible and the only way to achieve this is by ensuring that I am committed to continuing professional development. Professional networking is also vital to librarianship. Communicating with our industry peers ensures I remain abreast of developments within the industry. Networking also provides insight, alternative perspective and innovative ideas, thus improving our industry.
I hope that you enjoy the blog and my library related thoughts.
