Like all industries, the Teacher Librarian has needed to reinvent themselves to reflect changing technology. An industry can either choose to be like Kodak or like IBM. It can embrace changing technology or allow it to make them obsolete. When we look at how our access to information has changed over the last 20 years, we need to consider the next 20 years. The students no longer looks at only the library catalogue to conduct their research, but is more likely to access the ‘World Wide Web.’ Secondary students are much more inclined to use search engines to conduct research. How we assist them to conduct precise and relevant research is the challenge.
