Digital materials/resources and Emerging Technologies

In this week’s post I look at digital materials/resources and emerging technologies by creating a reading guide blog for young adults. “The creation of a literature blog … offers multiple benefits, as it develops literacy, communicative and digital skills” (Neira-Pineiro, 2014, p 555).

  1. I have just completed my reading guide for “Literature and other Resources for Children and Young Adults” and found it to be a valuable experience. Although I have created several blogs and websites for different subjects previously, I still find that each time I learn something new. I agree that creating a Reading Guide in a blog format is the best way to reach young readers because they are constantly immersed in the digital world. Additionally, Nielen et al. (2016) believe that electronic content is received more positively by children than traditional print. This is possibly due to the familiarity and fun experiences associated with electronic devices. Finding a fun, interesting place where children can explore different resources is a great way to encourage positive reading practices and extend upon literacy skills.
