On this page you will find a link to the Professional Development Activities I completed for INF330 Library Services for Children and Young Adults.
These activities looked at:
- Censorship
- Diversity
- Digital Materials/Resources and Emerging Technologies
- Young People’s Book Awards.
Participating in and reflecting on these activities I found the difference between being silent and being silenced interesting, as “not everyone who is silent is necessarily silenced” (Joosen, 2020, p 112) but by silencing (censoring) authors we take away voices and topics for children’s literature thereby limiting the diversity of our collections for our younger users. It also provided me the opportunity to explore what services and awards were available for both users and librarians and helped me to recognise how important these services and programs are for our younger users.
