The term technology is broad. Thinking about technology’s influence on society, in general, is wide-reaching. Module 2 has introduced a lot of statistics and information about people’s access to technology (We are Social, 2021) and the indispensable roles it plays across the world.

I believe technology has influenced society in both positive and negative ways. It is almost impossible to escape some form of interaction with technology each day, and with interaction, a positive or negative outcome is reached. My own life experiences, situation in the world and comprehensive access to technology leads me to form an opinion that technology has had a positive influence on society. Using technology in my day-to-day life allows me to achieve goals for my work and home life. Technology allows me to connect, problem-solve, interact, communicate, teach, and learn each day. I use technology to successfully engage children in lessons that broaden their understandings and connect them to the world. Although I have also come across some negative impacts on the use of technology in my job, the positive effects far outweigh the negative.

The influence of technology on various organisations is also quite broad. From the content in module 2, it can be inferred that technology has positively impacted the organisations mentioned. This is because these organisations have been able to connect to their intended audience in an interactive way and meet an intended goal (Educause, 2021).

Some main points mentioned in module 2 that organisations need to consider when engaging with technology include:

• People’s access to technology.
• People’s technology literacy – can they understand what is being produced?
• The various forms in the Web 2.0 sphere – which platform is best and will meet your target audience?
• How will the platforms be used to connect and interact with your audience?

Technology plays an important role in society ad among different organisations. I don’t believe there is a one size fits all approach that can be followed, but I do believe that when used appropriately, technology’s influence is positive.
