In less than a week I begin the next session in my Teacher Librarianship course. I have chosen the elective, “Digital Citizenship in Schools.”
I’ve selected this class for a number of reasons.
- My default is to teach without technology. I need to be stretched and challenged in this area.
- My school is conservative in its use of technology. There is a number of reasons for this, but as a teacher librarian (for the 4 weeks I’ve been on the job!), I want to be knowledgable and wise in my support of technology in the classroom.
- I want to equip my students with the skills they will need in the future and I can’t teach what I don’t know!
- As a parent, I want my own children to be wise in the digital footprint they leave and I hope this class will enable me to guide them well.
