Curation Tools

LiveBinders

This platform allows you to present resources quickly and simply. When you use LiveBinders content and links are displayed like a book and can include different forms of media like Word, PDF’s and images. LiveBinders can be accessed on any device and at anytime. Students are able to collaborate with each other using this platform, and can even collaborate with people from across the globe. You can also access other people’s LiveBinders based on content searches.

Diigo

Diigo is a great tool to use when working on inquiry, as students and teachers use tags in order to save and categorise information that can then be easily shared with other groups.  Students are also able to comment on and annotate any of the content. It’s a fantastic tool to use as teacher when curating content for your students to use as a springboard.

Padlet

Padlet is a great cross platform app that can also be used as a browser extension, which is extremely useful for students doing Inquiry research, as they are able to save content and links with the click of a button. You are able to collaborate, leave comments and rate content on other people’s Padlet’s. It has layout options that can include different types of multimedia, so pages can be personalised according to the needs of the student or audience.

Google Sites

The big plus is that in New South Wales Google Sites is completely free to use for all school students. It’s a great tool that is responsive and user friendly that can help students organise and transform information. It also allows for easy collaboration between peers and also allows instant feedback to take place from the teacher.  Google Sites also offers privacy settings which can keep documents and websites within the school system and out of public domain.
